Snore Guards

It is estimated that a staggering 90 million people in the United States snore. Not only is snoring disruptive to the sleeper, but it can disturb the snorer’s spouse and children.

Snoring can be an indication of a more serious condition, obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Patients with OSA stop breathing temporarily during sleep when the muscles in the back of the throat relax and block the airway.

The American Academy of Sleep Medicine recommends an oral appliance, called a snore guard, to treat snoring and sleep apnea. Dr. Laura has experience working with patients who snore and/or suffer from sleep apnea and can create a custom made snore guard to help patients get the restful sleep they need.

A custom snore guard fits entirely inside the mouth and is designed to keep the airway open during sleep. Snore guards have a hard, durable outer shell with a soft inner layer to rest comfortable against the teeth and gums.
